Moonscape Overlook & Factory Butte - Utah
What to do if you have little time : Moonscape Overlook
Moonscape Overlook has become in recent years a place not to be missed. However, the place is still quite uncrowded. Although this is only a viewpoint, it is worth the detour provided to be there at the right time of the day, ie at sunset and/or at sunrise. The ideal is to camp here. Be careful, however, not to engage on this track in rainy weather.
On the road, Factory Butte stands like a sentry.
Moonscape Overlook
From the top of a promontory, you will dominate a valley of gray dunes, black, brown ... and pink on the horizon, like a lunar landscape. You will probably be alone there. This view is superb and impressive by its size. It takes softer shades and orange at the extreme hours of the day.
Access : from Highway 24, between Caineville and Hanksville, take the Coalmine Road to the North for 6 miles, then at GPS N38°26'55.6" W110°52'57.7", turn right onto Skyline View Road (# 0913) for 2.7 miles.
