Shoshone Falls - Idaho
What to do if you have little time : Shoshone Falls
We were impatient to discover Idaho. Our disappointment was even greater. Some of the sites we visited would have everything to please, especially those on the Snake River. Unfortunately, these sites are operated at the extreme for hydraulic power purpose, which disfigures Idaho.
The access to Shoshone Falls is 3$ (2012).

Cascade named "the Niagara of the West". They are indeed beautiful and rather impressive. Unfortunately, they are a bit spoiled by all the surrounding hydro-electric facilities . You can be satisfied with the view from the bridge next to the parking lot. But it is better to walk a little on the canyon rim trail (0,5 mile round trip). Another gateway then provides a more interesting and certainly more open view of Shoshone Falls.
Access : coming from the east on U.S. 84, take 50 South and North East 3300 (Chaplin Road). The end of this road is the overlook viewpoint.
