What to do if you have little time : viewpoints

This park is at 8200 ft high, so it may be cold even in summer.

The canyon is deep, narrow and dark. It can be challenging to take pictures of the canyon and the sky at the same time.

Like every National Parks, a fee is required at the entrance of the park. It's 30$ per vehicle. If you have the pass "America the beautiful", access is included.

    Lodging

    We have tested :

    • Days Inn - Montrose : classic motel. Spacious rooms, comfortable and clean.

Just in front of the hotel is the "Red Barn", a restaurant in the cowboy decor quite friendly ... run by Asians.
