    Beaver Lake CR3 - Colorado

What to do if you have little time : Beaver Lake

This road might not be the most scenic in Colorado, but it's really worth the seeing for its 2 lakes with nice reflections. Of course, it's even better in autumn, when trees get their yellowish colors.

This road (CR3) is absolutely beautiful. It runs along the Crystal River and passes by several lakes including Beaver Lake. About 1.8 mile before Beaver Lake, you'll find a small lake, perfect for photographing the reflections of the surrounding mountains. The lake is surrounded by trees and in fall, reflections on the water of the lake are gorgeous.

Access : from Glenwood Springs on I70, take 82 south for 11.8 miles, turn right to Carbondale and CO133. Continue on for 22.5 miles on CO133 and turn left on CR3 to Beaver Lake.

    To see around

    • Crested Butte
    • Aspen
    • Maroon Bells
    • Black Canyon of the Gunnison

    Lodging

    We have tested :

    • Silver Spruce Motel - Glenwood Springs : rather pleasant hotel run by a Polish. It is certainly fashionable for Polish ti run a hotel. We had already seen the case in Oregon. Very friendly welcome, very spacious rooms not so expensive ($ 69 for 4 in September 2014). Only the breakfast is pretty basic.
    • Erikson Springs Campground - CR12 : in the forest, only equipped with dry toilets. The tent sites still have a table and a barbecue. Very quiet and dark at night.
