Walk without great difficulty. Dettifoss is the most powerful waterfall in Europe. It is reached after 10 minutes of walking. 0.6 mile away is Selfoss, another cascade certainly less impressive but a flowing series of small waterfalls.

Access : 18 miles north of Grimsstadir on Highway 864, turn left into the parking lot of Dettifoss.

• Myvatn : guesthouse Grimstunga : we were quartered in a house apart than the owner. This house has 3 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and lounge. It was very good. Breakfast is taken in the owners' house. Although in the middle of nowhere, this guesthouse is ideally located for visiting Dettifoss and Selfoss.
