Myvatn
What to do if you have little time : Leirhnjukur and Jardbodin Vid
Lake Myvatn and its surroundings are an undeniable stage in the northern part of Iceland. The landscapes are very varied. Indeed, there are lava flows still smoldering, craters filled with water, lakes and even a complex laid out for relaxation that is well worth Blue Lagoon.
Access : from Lake Myvatn, take Route 1 east on about 2 miles. On the right is Jardbodin on the roadside. Take road 1 east again on 2 miles and you will have to the right, along the road, Namafjall. Leaving Namafjall, take straight road 863 for about 6 miles, then you will cross the geothermal power station. Continuing and after climbing a hill, on the left is the parking lot of Leirhnjukur. Finally, taking the road for a few hundred meters, is the car park of the crater Viti.
