The Vortex is a small curiosity near St George. This is a bowl that can be filled with rainwater.

The hike to the Vortex is not very long but the elevation is important (about 330 feet) for such a short distance. In summer, the heat makes the climb even more difficult. The beginning of the walk is done in sand then we arrive on a slickrock area. The surrounding hills are pretty.
Access : from St George, follow Route 18 North for 18 miles from Bluff Street exit onto I15. Take a left on Lower Sand Cove Road for 5.3 miles and take a path on the left before crossing a small stream and then park.
