Prescott - Arizona
What to do if you have little time : Watson Lake
The interest of Prescott is mainly its "Granite Dells", large granite rocks eroded in a rounded way, and its lakes - Willow and Watson. The most beautiful lake is Watson Lake at sunrise where its granite rocks light up.
At the time of our visit in April 2022, the road to Watson Lake Park and its campground was closed due to a demonstration. So we could not access the western side of the lake. We found an alternative on the East side of the lake (details below).
For Willow Lake, we were satisfied with a viewpoint from the Willow Lake Road.
Watson et Willow Lakes
A hiking trail starts from the parking lot and reaches Watson Lake in about half a mile. From there, you have to continue and make your way through the rocks in order to get a good view of the lake and the "granite dells".
Access : from the center of Prescott, take Highway 89 north, then turn right onto Prescott Lakes Parkway for 0,3 mile. Turn left on Sundog Ranch Road for 0,2 mile and park. Parking fee : $3 per day as of April 2022.
