Pine Creek Road and Hell's Backbone Road - Utah
What to do if you have little time : the drive is long so if you have little time, do not go there
Pine Creek Road and Hell's Backbone Road are scenic drives. A few places are worth a look (Posey Lake and Hell's Backbone Bridge), the rest is not very interesting. The combined of these 2 tracks is 42,6 miles, which seems long.
Pine Creek Road
The beginning of the track offers pretty views of white and yellow rocks, then a forest of fir trees. Then there is Posey Lake, a very calm lake at altitude with the possibility of camping and hiking. This lake is also ideal for a picnic.
Access : from Highway 12 East Escalante, follow Posey Lake / Hell's Backbone.
Hell's Backbone ROad
The beginning of the track offers beautiful views of the mountains and a bridge. But the rest of the track is not very interesting.
Access : first follow Pine Creek Road before arriving on Hell's Backbone Road.
