Natural Bridges National Monument - Utah
What to do if you have little time : the viewpoints
The main attraction of this park are its 3 bridges. Of different size and shape, they are all 3 impressive.
There are 2 ways to visit this park :
- follow the park road and stop at the different viewpoints on the bridges. Not always easy to see, sometimes it takes a few meters to see them better,
- take the Loop Trail on foot which passes at the bottom of the canyon at the foot of the bridges, version we have chosen.
In view of the limited interest on some portions of the Loop Trail, it is best to visit Natural Bridges by car and stop at each viewpoint on the bridges and then browse the small trails that go down.
Like all national parks, a contribution is required at the entrance to the park. It is $ 20 per vehicle. If you have the "America the beautiful" pass, access is included.
Natural Bridges National Monument
This long 8,7 miles hike is not always very interesting. Some portions between bridges are long and boring.
The descent to Sipapu Bridge is fun with passages on ladders and tree trunks. The path then passes in front of ruins that can be seen in the distance and then arrives at Kachina Bridge. The trail to the third bridge, Owachomo Bridge, is more monotonous and long enough that there is not much to see. Before arriving at Owachomo, it rises a little under an alcove, ideal for picnics. After this last bridge, the trail catches Mesa Trail to return to Sipapu. And this part in groves is very boring and long, without any interest.
Access : From Blanding, take 191 South for 3.9 miles then UT95N for,30.2 miles then turn right onto UT275N to park entrance. The start of the hike is at the car park of the Sipapu Bridge viewpoint.
