Moab Area - Utah
What to do if you have little time : Arches National Park
Moab area is not limited to Arches NP and Canyonlands NP. Many other sights are visible if you want to walk a bit. It is often very hot in the summer. For all walks, plan a lot of water.
Corona and Bow Tie Arches
Very nice hike of 2.5 miles roundtrip with an elevation of 500 feet. It climbs a little at the beginning. Further, there is a passage where you must help with a rope and a ladder. This walk leads to two lovely arches.
Access : from Moab, drive on Potash Road for about 10 miles along the Colorado River, to a car park to the right of the road.
North Fork of Mill Creek
Really nice hike in hot weather (3,4 miles roundtrip) due to river and small waterfalls. Busy in the weekend.
Access : from Main Street in Moab, take 300 S toward East, then 400E toward South, then the Mill Creek Drive and finally Powerhouse Lane to the parking.
Negro Bill Canyon
Pretty hike of about 5 miles roundtrip that leads to a high arch contiguous to the cliff : Morning Glory Arch. Several river crossings. Place also attended the weekend.
Access : at the northern exit of Moab, follow 128 to the east, along the Colorado River to the parking for Negro Bill Canyon.
