Lyngenfjord - Norway

With the Lyngen Alps towering above it, Lyngenfjord is a pretty fjord whose main town is Lyngen, 133 km - 2:15 - east of Tromso (77 km - 1:50 by ferry from Breivikeidet). At the beginning of the fjord, you can see Mount Otertind, a beautiful pointed mountain. Skibotn and Elvevoll are two good places from which to explore the area. Skibotn, in particular, is ideally placed to head for Finland if the weather is better. Skibotn beach is a prime location for viewing the Northern Lights. In fact, many tour operators stop here.
