What to do if you have little time : Kylemore Abbey
Kylemore Abbey

Kylemore is an absolutely splendid castle from the outside. Its white color contrasts with the green background of the trees. The interior is a little less interesting and especially only 5 rooms are accessible. In the park, do not miss either the neo-Gothic church and the garden. Near the church is the mausoleum. The Victorian Walled Garden is very large and nicely landscaped.
Access : from Clifden, take the N59 North for 11.2 miles, then turn left towards Kylemore Abbey.

Connemara is a much larger area than just Connemara National Park. So all roads have nice views to offer. This is the case of Wild Atlantic Way, 344, 341 which leads to Roundstone Village and Dogs Bay, a large white sand beach with another beach at the back. This route 341 goes around a multitude of lakes, clearly visible on the maps but unfortunately not very visible from the floor of the sheep ! It should be able to gain height.
Connemara Loop
The Connemara Loop could be described as a scenic route as its landscapes are diverse: lakes, hills, peat bogs, fjord, rivers, beaches ... This 73 miles route passes through Kylemore Lough (lake), following Route 344 , Inagh Lough (Lake), takes Route 336, Maunvee Lough (Lake), Killary Harbor (Fjord), Gowlaun Beach, Rinvyle Beach (Beach).
Sky Road
The Sky Road is a very nice road about 11,8 miles. In the late afternoon, the light is beautiful and the place is ideal for watching the sunset.
Access : the Sky Road forms a loop from Clifden.
Diamond Hill
Diamond Hill is part of the Connemara National Park. It is a hill on which it is possible to go. The hike is 4,7 miles with a elevation gain of 1 312 feet. But it climbs especially at the end for 2,4 miles with a slope of 10%. From above, we have a nice view of the castle and Kylemore Abbey with its lake, as well as all of Connemara. It is a hike that is really worth it but we must provide warm clothes because up there is a lot of wind.
Access : from the Visitor Center on the N59.
