Windhoek - Namibie
Windhoek is the largest city in Namibia with about 330,000 inhabitants out of 2.5 million in the country. Although the capital of Namibia, it is a city that remains on a human scale. This is generally the starting point for stays in Namibia since the main airport (Hosea Kutako International Airport) is about 45 kilometers east of the city.
Windhoek is not an extremely welcoming city. When you come from the east from the airport, you come to a street with high walls, topped with barbed wire. And all the streets are so, which reinforces the feeling of insecurity. Similarly, when arriving from the south, the first vision of the capital is a hill covered with a tin house, a shantytown. However, we were able to walk around the city center to visit some monuments and we had no problem. However, we advise against walking in the evening and at night.
Some buildings are interesting as the Lutheran church, symbol of Windhoek or the parliament gardens. Some museums are also in Windhoek including the National Art Gallery, which, it must be said, is nothing exceptional.
