Landmannalaugar
What to do if you have little time : Difficult to give an opinion because during our visit in 2011, the tracks were still closed and the bus did not work.
The Landmannalaugar, near the volcano Hekla, is a rather tourist area because its landscapes are spectacular.
However, the access is not easy because it requires to use tracks, which is not recommended with a rental car. The other access is a shuttle service from Reykjavik but it is only open from mid-June to mid-September.

During our trip in 2001, we could not visit the center of Landmannalaugar, having no suitable car and bus tours starting the season on June 15. However, we have traveled the road / track 26 towards Landmannalaugar to the waterfall Krokslon . It was a disappointment for us not to be gone within the park.
