In this page, you will find informations and advices we can give, based on our experience

    Etosha National Park - Namibia

The Etosha National Park, located 458 km north of Windhoek, was established in 1967 and is approximately 22 900 km². It is home to the dry salt lake of Pan d'Etosha. This is the site not to be missed in Namibia, it is one of the largest animal reserves in Africa.

    Price in 2019 : 80 $ namibian (5 €) per person + 10 $ namibian for the car (0,60 €).

We advise you to buy the map of the park (53 $N or 3,30 €). It is essential to find the water points and there is a drawing of all the animals that helps to identify them.

If you plan to stay several days in Etosha, it is possible to buy the permit for several days at the park entrance.

It is forbidden to get off vehicles.

The park closes at sunset. Watch the time even if you stay inside the park, the doors of the lodges close at the same time.

    Lodging

    We have tested :

    • Onguma Bush Camp : the lodge is superb with its water point. The cottage is small but classy. The welcome is great with fruit juice and small fresh towels. The dining room is directly on the water point lit at night.

    • Okaukuejo Resort : very crowded lodge, many rooms. They are less typical but spacious with kitchenette. The restaurant serves a very average buffet. The water point is exceptional.
