Algarve - Portugal
What to do if you have little time : The sunset on Cape St Vincent's lighthouse and Ponta da Piedade
As we suspected, the Algarve and especially its south coast, is very touristy. Despite all the landscapes are beautiful and composed of orange cliffs that flow into a green water. In many places, isolated rocks emerge from the water. Ponta da Piedade and the hanging valleys are full of this kind of landscape.
The cave of Benagil is the local curiosity. Access can only be done by boat (renting canoes or organized tours). We had planned to go but faced with the incredible crowd, we preferred to give up.
Cape St Vincent and its lighthouse are the most southwestern point of Europe. A visit to the sunset is worth it.
The Fort de Sagres did not pack us! We expected more especially at the Rose of the Winds. This one is not very well maintained.
If you like beaches, the south coast is obviously the place to go. By cons, to spread your towel you will first have to push others ! More seriously, some beaches are awful like that of da Rocha, entirely lined with buildings.
