White River Falls State Park - Oregon

What to do if you have little time : the waterfalls

Waterfalls quite unknown because relatively isolated in the central part of Oregon. The remains of an old hydroelectric power plant are still present on the site.

Beautiful double cascade, preferably in the morning to avoid the backlight. Beside the parking lot, there is a viewpoint, but it would be a shame to limit to this view. Do not miss the path down to the left (over the bridge). It offers in 1150 feet a beautiful view of the waterfalls.

Access : from Maupin, take north on highway 197 and after the city of Tygh Valley, turn right on highway 216 to the State Park sign.

    To see around

    • Columbia River Gorge

    Lodging

We did not sleep close to this park. It was just a stopover between John Day Fossil Beds and the Columbia River Gorge.
