    Senja Island - Norvège

The island of Senja is the second largest island in Norway and yet it feels like a lonely place. It is accessible by the Gisund bridge in Finnsnes or by boat from the island Kvaloya (connection Brenshomen - Bothhamn).

Like Kvaloya, Senja is full of fjords, mountains, lakes with impressive reflections, small villages at the "end of the world" and of course reindeers. Like its neighbor, there are not many restaurants in the villages.

What impressed us the most was Tungeneset at sunrise. It is also an ideal place for the northern lights. Do not miss the bridge of Bergsbotn which offers a superb panorama on the fjord of the same name.

    • Le Grand Piano or "Crow Castle" - Senja Island : house at the end of a pier, not accessible by car: you have to carry your suitcases. Atypical, rustic house, part of which is on stilts and directed towards the sea on three sides. Also called "Crow Castle" (Krakeslottet), it is a former fish factory from 1899. The house has been restored and transformed for 50 years. Apart from accommodating tourists, it hosts a music festival and an art festival in the summer. It has 34 rooms, 12 emergency exits, 40 fire detectors, about 20 beds, doors and rooms in all directions, a grand piano, an upright piano and a harmonium, a sauna in the lighthouse, two large rooms for festivals, a large workshop with boats and two outbuildings, one of which is used as a bedroom. As for the decoration, it is very kitsch. There is everything: salvage, old accessories or utensils, "things" from the sea (shells, dried seaweed...), drawings from tourists...
