Guimaraes was a stage between the Peneda-Geres National Park and Porto. But a passage is necessary. The Palace of the Dukes of Braganza is, almost alone, the interest of the city. It is impressive for its size and its rooms are beautiful, including the dining room with its wooden hull shaped ceiling. The castle is, meanwhile, uninteresting. On the other hand, make a small visit of the city which is quite nice.
