Beautiful fjord, the best we've seen. Before reaching the fjord, we pass by a pass from where we have a great view. From here begins the descent. You can drive along the fjord on its north side by a track more or less feasible. At the end of this track, is the flagship Dalatangi. We wanted to go to the lighthouse but the track becoming less feasible and more narrow, we decided to turn around. However, it is to do so the fjord is beautiful.

Access : at the start of Egilsstadir, take Route 92 south on 5.5 miles, then left on Route 953 in against-low.

Fjord in which the main village is Bakkagerdi. You can admire a traditional Icelandic covered with grass. The fjord is also known for watching puffins. Just continue on Route 947 to the port of Hofn where an observatory was built. 

Access : at the start of Egilsstadir, take the road north 94 to Bakkagerdi. This route passes through impressive landscapes.

A walk in the city

Fjord but also a port city, point of departure and arrival of the ferry from Denmark. The main interest of the townis its houses of all colors and even a house with a pink Barbapapa drawn above.

We have tested :

• Seydisfjordur - youth hostels : it is composed of two buildings : one at exit north of the city and one in the downtown. It is in this second that we slept. It is the former hospital of Seydisfjordur converted into a hostel. It's pretty dated, our room was too small for 4. There are not enough health given the number of rooms. Considering the visits we made (detailed below), moving to Seydisfjordur was not the best choice. Indeed, for each site visited, we had to go through Egilsstadir, knowing that the road passes through a snowy pass. It is therefore recommended rather to find accommodation in Egilsstadir.
