    Northern lights - Norway

A trip to Norway or elsewhere in the Far North does not guarantee to observe the Northern Lights. Several conditions must be met:

    - it must be night! yes, in Norway, there is no night during the summer months! it is thus necessary to privilege the autumn or the winter. Autumn allows you to visit during the day during the few hours of daylight.

    - you need solar activity

    - and above all you need a sky without cloud cover.

Applications are available to monitor the activity of the sun and to predict the aurora: "Aurora Alert", "Hello Aurora"...

We were very lucky during our trip in October/November 2022. Over the 2 weeks, the auroras went crescendo. In February 2024, on the other hand, auroral activity was lower and weather conditions less favorable.
