Antelope Canyon - Arizona
What to do if you have little time : Lower Antelope Canyon
These 2 wonderful canyons are belonging to the Navajos indians. They are located on the East side of the city of Page. They were carved and sculpted by water and wind.
Tip : the best moment to visit the canyons is before 11:30 am or after 2 pm. The light then illuminates not directly the bottom of the canyon. It is better to take advantage of the light reflecting from the top of the canyon walls. However, for photographing large rays of light (rather in the upper), it is better to be around noon. The Indians will be happy to throw sand in these lines to make them more visible. Protect your camera !
Lower Antelope Canyon
0,6 mile - 1h30
Guided tour of 1h30
28$ in 2014
The visit of the canyon is a guided tour with about 15 person and a local guide. The tour lasts 1:30, which is quite satisfactory and we still have time to take pictures.
Accès : from the city of Page, the easiest way to go to Antelope Canyon is via US89 south and US98 East. In about 10 minutes, you'll be there.
Access is more difficult than upper Antelope Canyon, because the entrance is through a notch in the ground using ladders. Sometimes you have to squeeze between the rock.
Upper Antelope Canyon
0,1 mile - 1h30
Guided tour of 1h30
34$ in 2014
Unlike Antelope Canyon, access to Upper Antelope Canyon is from the bottom.
Access : From the city of Page, the easiest way to go to Antelope Canyon is via US89 south and US98 East. In about 10 minutes, you'll be there.
This canyon is the easiest to access. After parking your car, a Navajo guide will drive you to the entrance of the canyon. The visit is then by foot and is 200 meters long.
The accommodations, although abundant in Page, are however insufficient and very expensive. It becomes very difficult to find accommodation in Page. We strongly advise you to book in advance. Otherwise, you may not find accommodation or pay very expensive. We have tested :
